A hand gun is an effective self-defense tool. It is easy to carry and store. It can also be concealed if needed. In a dangerous situation when you need to save your life or other, handgun can easily be pulled out and fire. After knowing these facts, someone may decide to carry a handgun himself/herself. But a question pop-up in his mind immediately-What handgun should I buy?

I was in the same situation. There are many different types of handguns on the market. What i do first was start asking people over the Internet. But I did not get a correct answer. By correct answer, I mean, the answer that convince me.

Second thing I did was online research. That what everyone do nowadays. I learnt many valuable things regarding the topic. Below I have shared my knowledge.

The first handgun people recommended is Glock. The firearms are ideal for any beginner. They are simple and common. You may start your shooting career with Glock. After gathering some experience, you can use the gun for a long time.

Another thing come into consideration is your purpose. Why do you want to purchase a handgun? Handguns are not always designed to shot something. Some hands guns are used to extinguish fire. For example, Smith and Wesson SD series are used to extinguish fire. These guns feature simple design. They are inexpensive too. If you are looking into buying a handgun, Smith and Wesson would be ideal choice for you.  

Another important consideration come into play is your self-defense. It is an important criterion for many people. Select a gun that carrying will be handy. Your security will be jeopardizing if it is not effective. A hand-gun with 12 inches barrel and .357 magnums will work fine. Regarding self-defense gun, portability is also important. Do you want to carry it openly? Or do you want to conceal it in a ladies bag?

Many people tend to buy gun in accordance with their body size. For example, women tend buy light-weight revolvers. But body size and gun size do not have any relation. Some women with petite figure can take care of big guns.

Price is of course come into play. Price of a hand-gun could be as low as below hundred dollars to over thousands. I suggest you first fix a budget. How much money you want to spend? Depending on your budget, buy a handgun with best quality. Generally, a new quality gun will cost you $600 to $1200.

 

If your budget is limited, you can buy used guns. First benefit is they are inexpensive. Believe or not, you can buy a used gun with $350 while a brand new the same gun may cost you over $3000. Worrying about quality? In most cases, used guns provide almost the same quality.

The final consideration is how comfortable the gun is in your hand? Can you hold it comfortably? You cannot fire accurately if it does not fit your hand accurately.
